Insights from the lectures on faith
"The great plan of happiness"—Alma’s designation for God’s plan of salvation for His children—lies at the heart of Latter-day Saint belief. To help readers gain a fuller understanding of this gospel fundamental, author Jerry A. Wilson discusses insights from an often-neglected but important source, the Lectures on Faith.
In a clear and informative presentation, the author takes a close look at the lectures and expounds on the principles found there that relate to the plan of happiness, including faith and its application, God's characteristics and attributes, the importance of pursuing a course approved by God, and the necessity of sacrifice. An appendix containing all seven Lectures on Faith makes the text of these powerful teachings easily accessible.
"The Lectures on Faith constitute a significant canonical document... explaining God's plan for our becoming like him," writes Brother Wilson. Readers will come away with not only a better grasp of the plan of happiness but also a greater appreciation for the inspired nature of the Lectures on Faith.
