By W. Jeffery Marsh
Referenced twice in the Bible itself (Joshua and 2 Samuel), the Book of Jasher is an ancient-style narrative that parallels and expands Genesis through Joshua. This edition reprints the 1840 English translation once published in Utah by the Joseph Hyrum Parry company, with a new introduction placing the text in Latter-day Saint context alongside the Apocrypha and D&C 91. Readers encounter vivid legends—Abraham smashing his father's idols, Joseph's rise in Egypt, Moses reigning in Cush—offering food for thought for students of scripture.
