As Latter-day Saints we often sing, “I need thee every hour, most gracious Lord. No tender voice like thine can peace afford” (Hymns, no. 98). That, in essence, is the message of I Need Thee Every Hour: The Joy of Coming unto Christ, by Blaine M. Yorgason. Portions of the book were previously published as Spiritual Progression in the Last Days, but these have been updated and augmented with a wealth of new material on how we can receive the peace of the gospel in good times and in bad. The author discusses such topics as: Our eternal identity Being born of the Spirit Becoming sons and daughters of Christ The Lord’s school The scriptures and mighty prayer The power of charity Securing spiritual promises The establishment of Zion Writing from the perspective of a bishop, Blaine M. Yorgason gives us this testimony: “I bear solemn witness of two things: First, that virtually any one of us, no matter our station in mortality, has the capacity to achieve the spiritual possibilities and triumphs the Lord has held out to us through His scriptures and His prophets. And second, I bear solemn witness that Jesus Christ lives, and stands waiting with outstretched arms to ‘take up his abode with us,’ and will do so as quickly as we are willing to put aside the world and give our hearts and lives wholly to Him.” If you desire to become a more spiritual person and to experience more profoundly the love of Christ, you’ll appreciate the powerful teachings and scriptural insights in I Need Thee Every Hour.
