(Revised and Enhanced Edition) - “Should the author be called to sacrifice his life for the cause of truth,” Parley P. Pratt wrote, “Yet he will have the consolation that it will be said of him as it was said of Abel. . . 'He being dead yet speaketh.'” From the pages of this revised and enhanced edition of the Autobiography of Parley P. Pratt, the author boldly, eloquently, and humbly speaks to us from the dead. Just as he shared his personal witness in life, so in death Parley P. Pratt continues to proclaim his powerful testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. As an apostle and missionary during the early days of the Restoration, Parley P. Pratt witnessed firsthand the events that shaped the young Church. From his memoirs, we read of mobs raging against the saints; we feel the faith, joy and love of first-generation converts; and we experience the dignity and majesty of the Prophet Joseph Smith rebuking the blaspheming guards in Richmond, Missouri: “SILENCE ye fiends of the infernal pit. In the name of Jesus Christ I rebuke you,and command you to be still; I will not live another minute and bear such language. Cease such talk, or you or I die THIS INSTANT!” More than seven hundred endnotes, many containing information from the unpublished materials and personal communication, provide valuable insights and illuminate Elder Pratt's highly personal history. In addition, a dozen maps and more than one hundred photographs exclusive to this edition bring to life his words and draw us into his narrative. This revised and enhanced edition of the Autobiography of Parley P. Pratt will introduce a new generation of readers to the miracles of the Restoration and to the important role this dynamic missionary played in the proclaiming the gospel far and wide. For those already acquainted with the trials and triumphs of Parley P. Pratt, this book will rekindle their love for this good and faithful servant of the Lord. Author PROCTER, SCOTT & MAURINE
